About the Process

The process always starts with a complimentary personal in-home consultation (up to 60 minutes) which gives Susan an opportunity to see your home and discuss your budget, ideas, and functionality needs for each space.  During the consultation, Susan will talk with you about colors and styles that you like, the existing furniture pieces you'd like to keep, the two primary services Susan and her team can provide and discuss which will likely be a better fit for your project. She will also explain the fee structure and how the design team is compensated for their ideas, knowledge, expertise, and time. Preliminary measurements and photos will be taken. Additional consultation time (beyond the first 60 minutes) will be billed at the standard hourly rate.

If, after the initial consultation,  you choose to move forward to the next step, you will pay a small deposit, and the Legacy Residential Interiors team will prepare a personalized design plan that is within your budget. Depending on the scope of the project, the plan may include fabrics, paint colors, furnishings, lighting, space planning, accessories, art, etc. Within the next few weeks, the team will return to your home to present this customized plan.  If you approve the design plan and accompanying budget, your project will begin right away!  

Design fees are to compensate Susan and her team for their ideas, their advice and guidance, their expertise, and their time.  If the scope of the job is relatively small, fees will be billed on an hourly basis. If the scope is larger or includes multiple rooms/spaces, then a flat fee - typically 25% of the project budget - will be negotiated before the project begins.  No surprises.

There are many factors that affect the amount of time it can take to complete an interior design project.  However; the goal is always to complete the project as quickly as possible -- typically around eight to twelve weeks.
